An order founded in 2024
A circle inside the Rolls-Royce & Bentley Club Switzerland founded its own order, and wanted insignia that would carry the authority of the state pieces they had seen.

What the Order is
The Most Excellent Order of the Silver Lady was founded on 26 February 2024 as a partner organisation and patrons’ association of the Rolls-Royce & Bentley Club Switzerland. It is constituted as an association under Swiss law.
Its members support one another and fund the events the club runs, and the General Assembly directs a share of the annual profits to the club and to charities working with young people.
If you’re going to found an order, then have the appropriate insignia. That is why we have loved to commission the British royal court supplier Cleave & Company to produce these fine pieces of jewellery.
How we made it
Founding an order in 2024, outside any honours system and without a religious foundation behind it, is an unusual thing to do. Having decided on it, the founders wanted insignia that would not read as a club badge, which is why they came to us.
We drew and made the pieces in London, on the bench that makes insignia for the Crown, and to the same standards. It is the only commission of its kind among these stories, and the one to read if you are thinking of establishing an honour of your own. Nothing about the process differs from a state commission except who confers it.
The collar chain at the head of this page belongs to the same commission and is drawn rather than made. We have shown it as a drawing because that is what it is.
The Garter Star made for the thousandth Knight Companion
Queen Elizabeth II appointed Cleave to produce a new Garter Star for Prince William, who entered the Order’s register as its thousandth Knight Companion.
Insignia & MedalsThe Order given for personal service to the Sovereign
The Royal Victorian Order is in the Monarch’s own gift. We design, make and supply its insignia across all five grades, together with the Chancery items that go with them.
2023The King’s and Queen’s Messenger badges
The badge a King’s Messenger carries traces to Charles II in exile. We drew the change from Queen’s Messengers to King’s Messengers in 2023.
